THE CORRECT PROCEDURES FOR TAKING SAMPLES

At Wateren Service Limited we make every effort to ensure all samples taken are by suitably trained disciplined personnel, taking the appropriate precautions with regards to personal hygiene and safety. In order to ensure all our samples are collected and transported using the highest standards we stick to a strict protocol set out in our own method statements and in line with best environmental standards.

Sterile sample bottles are used and care is taken to avoid accidental contamination of the sample during collection and subsequent handling.

ACCURACY OF ANALYSIS

The accuracy analysis of a measurement instrument makes it possible to verify that the average measurement does not differ from the actual value of the measurement. Thus, at Wateren Service, we are satisfied that the analysis we provide for our customers is as accurate as anything they’ll find throughout the industry.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR SAMPLE RESULTS

Laboratory testing services often present clients with results of samples without the benefit of interpretation.

Whilst we provide original results for your records we can also explain in simple terms what the results of individual tests mean and a suitable course of action if they are not within the bounds of suitably safe standards.

HOT AND COLD WATER SERVICES TEMPERATURE CONTROL

Hot and cold water outlets, calorifier flow and return temperatures as well as TMVs (if fitted to sentinel outlets) should be checked on a monthly basis. This action helps ensure that the supply and flow of the water remains at the correct temperature that will not encourage the growth of Legionella. Hot water should reach 60°C; cold water temperature flows should fall below 20°C.

WATER SYSTEM CLEANING AND DESCALING

Regular cleaning and disinfection of water systems is essential to control water hygiene as sludge, sediment and scale can build up in a water system and provide favourable conditions for the Legionella bacteria to multiply.

Sludge and slime is also known as biofilm and this produces the ideal conditions for bacteria to grow within the water supply. A preventative maintenance regime of cleaning and descaling will ensure that biofilm doesn’t proliferate, which will ensure water treatment costs are kept to a minimum.
